Lesson in netagiri? Head for this Ranchi school

You might have missed this school tucked away in the bylanes of Ranchi town if it wasn’t for the crowd that gathers outside it these days. Come poll season and Ranchi’s unique Netagiri Vidyalaya is buzzing with aspirants who want to brush up on politics. The school, which claims to groom youngsters to become future leaders of tomorrow, says enrollment has shot up from just 10 students to a sizeable 200 following the announcement of poll dates. Brainchild of 50-year-old Raj Ranjan, brother of former Congress leader Gyan Ranjan, the school was set up in 2001. When he was general secretary of the Bihar Congress, Ranjan said he realised how poorly qualified politicians were in comparison to other professionals and bureaucrats. That is when the idea of the school was born.
